“The big stone that Alberta’s dropped in this pond [through AIOC] has had ripple effects across Canada. Then there’s a national program. There are provincial programs in other provinces, so the waves they’re creating started right here in Alberta [we’re] seeing this happen all across Canada.”
This week’s episode of Voices of Our People features Gary Bosgoed, CEO and President of Bosgoed Project Consultants and Vice Chair of AIOC’s Board of Directors. Gary highlights the impacts of AIOC’s loan guarantee model and successes as informing and supporting the establishment of the federal and other provincial programs.
Gary also shares his personal journey growing up on a farm outside Regina, his connection to the Prairies and Indigenous identity, and how his career in consulting engineering and project management led him to work alongside First Nations communities to help build schools, health centres, and community facilities that continue to serve future generations.
Throughout the conversation, Gary speaks to the importance of Indigenous ownership, participation, and leadership in major projects and the transformational impact this work can have for communities across the country.
Voices of Our People is an ongoing series on the Windspeaker Radio Network featuring stories from Indigenous People across Canada. Brought to you by the Alberta Indigenous Opportunities Corporation (AIOC), proud to back Indigenous Nations and groups in the pursuit of transformative investment partnerships.
