Indigenous Relations,
Government of Alberta
Alberta Indigenous Opportunities Corporation (AIOC) continues to fulfill its mission to facilitate Indigenous economic inclusion, as partners and owners, and plays a key part in driving Alberta’s economy forward.
AIOC empowers Indigenous communities, fostering independence and sustainability through the creation of long-term revenue streams that will benefit generations to come.
This fiscal year began with a historic milestone: the expansion of AIOC’s loan guarantee capacity to $3 billion on April 1, 2024. This unprecedented increase set a new standard and positioned AIOC for continued success.
Alberta’s government also broadened AIOC’s scope to include the tourism industry, recognizing the significant potential and economic opportunities that Indigenous tourism experiences are creating in Alberta. I am eager to see this sector flourish with AIOC's support.
In November 2024, Stephen Buffalo and Gary Bosgoed were reappointed as Chair and Vice Chair of AIOC Board of Directors. Their invaluable contributions and continued guidance promise great rewards in the years ahead.
February 2025 marked the opening of AIOC’s new head office in Enoch Cree Nation, and another office will be opening soon in Tsuut'ina Nation. From these strategic locations, AIOC will continue to bring the right partners together at the right times to support more landmark investments and meaningful economic reconciliation.
AIOC is just getting started, and I know its impact will continue to grow. My heartfelt thanks to leadership, employees, partners and stakeholders. Here's to a year of remarkable achievements and a bright future ahead.
